CASPer in medicine admissions
CASPer is most widely used in medical school admissions. Around 30+ US allopathic programs, roughly two-thirds of Canadian medical schools (McMaster, Ottawa, Queen's, McGill, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Memorial, Dalhousie and others), one New Zealand program (Auckland), and three Australian medical schools (Notre Dame, Wollongong, Curtin) require it. Schools use CASPer to screen for empathy, communication, ethics, and professionalism — the same traits assessed at MMI, just earlier in the funnel.
Programs known to require CASPer
- McMaster MD
- University of Ottawa MD
- University of Auckland MBChB
- University of Notre Dame Australia MD
- University of Wollongong MD
- Curtin MBBS
Not exhaustive — other programs may also require CASPer. Verified for the 2026/27 cycle.
